riding for a cause

Friends, I just want to tell you about how completely honored I was to be part of the planning committee of a event that took place this past Saturday for Autism Speaks.

For the past six or seven months, I've been helping do marketing and planning for the first ever Ride for Autism Speaks - Milwaukee. It's been a humbling and incredible experience and I've met some truly beautiful souls along the way. The day started with registration and a three hour ride from House of Harley to Burlington, WI and then back to House of Harley for an after-party where there were vendors, great food, beer from Milwaukee Brewing Company, and live music by Chasing Amy.

We could not have been happier with the turnout for this first year event. We had about one hundred and fifteen riders, over two hundred and fifty at the after-party, and we raised over sixteen thousand dollars!

Let me tell you, folks. I've helped plan many other large events and fundraisers, but to see people join together at this event in support of such an amazing cause was breathtaking. It's an incredible feeling to know you had even the slightest hand in helping an event like this happen for something so much bigger than yourself.

Thank you Mallory & Brian, Lisa, Greg, the Milwaukee Chapter Road Captains, House of Harley, our sponsor (Don Q Rum) and vendors, our amazing volunteers, and anyone else who had anything to do with the success of this event. And thank you so incredibly much to all of those who came out to ride and/or support this event and Autism Speaks.

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
